Oh, hunting. What other socially-acceptable excuse is there for one head out into the great outdoors and indulge oneself with an afternoon of tree climbing and simulated hoof stomping?

Yes, the Pythons have their coconut shells, while Michigan inventor Bruce Randall Hamlet has his "blunt for selectively striking the ground."

Why stomp? As the inventor points out "stomping can occur as a form of communication which can provide a male the opportunity to encounter a female for the purpose of mating." For he who hath heavy feet shall never bear a heavy heart.

(Hear me talk about this and other Patently Silly patents on the BBC.)

LAQ, since when does communing with nature involve shooting and killing a small portion of it?

Okay really. Unless you need the meat you shouldn't be using all this high tech equipment. I don't begrudge decoys if you make them yourself, but isn't the purpose of sport hunting to spend a day communing with nature?

Only for hunters.... "Honey, I'm going into the woods for - like - a whole day to freeze my butt off, douse myself in deer urine and use this giant simulated deer stomper so I can bag a buck, gut it out and throw it over the hood of the El Camino."
