Necessity is the mother of invention. The father is unknown.
The following patent was issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office on February 22, 2005.
Animal Toilet Enclosurepatent#: US 6857391filed under Pets I've seen lots of animal toilets over the past year, and this is one of the most sophisticated. It features a motion-sensor activated doorway, a sewer, and even a shower-head! Very European.

Dear Mr Gantt,
Actually, I don't think your idea is silly at all. I think that people once thought that of the indoor human toilet (remember when it was OK to throw your excrement out the window?). I think there is a coming market for proper toilets for dogs, particularly as cities lose their green space and people tire of picking it up.
If you decide to develop this product I would be interested in an Australasian distributorship or in assisting in a marketing capacity (I have 25 years' experience in marketing communications).
I think the initial market will be with municipal councils, moving later to group toilets for city apartment buildings, then later to private homes.
Please, give me a call if you plan to go anywhere with this invention.
Kind regards
