I can't imagine an airbag being very helpful in a motorcycle accident. I'll stick with the helmet and sumo suit combination.

I've ordered this option on my Goldwing which I hope to pick up this month. I'm not assuming it makes riding as safe as in a cage, and it doesn't do as much as defensive driving, a good helmet, and being a skilled rider, but my wife spends this much on manicures each year, so I'm getting it. I saw how vulnerable our bodies are while deployed in Iraq and I do everything I can to improve my odds.

Adam, How do you know that the airbags did more harm than good did you crash twice the exact same way one with and one with out an air bag? I was just woundering because that is reall the only wat to know it it was better or not. If you have ridden a Bike you would know that this is not a bad Idea just needs a little work.

air bags are the worst and most dangerous thing ever put in a car besides people. they first came up with air bags in the 1950's and the highway transportation and saftey commitee made the ruling that they were too dangerous to put into use. i have personally had 2 encounters with airbags both of which caused more harm than good

Yes, the 2006 Honda Goldwing line has an optional airbag. 80+% of all motorcycle accidents happen in front of the motorcycle...this isn't as silly as it sounds.

I know that if I'm on a bike, I would feel so much more secure knowing that there was an explosive device right in front of my already totally unprotected body. Yessiree, sign me up.

I don't get it. Is the bag for scooping up and containing your remains after you spill the bike at - like - 120 mph?

Saw a show that included this new device. I think it was a BMW bike, but I'm not sure. It actually worked better when the guy was speeding than when he travelled at low speeds... Yes, they used a dummy for the test. It always came out in better shape than the dummy on the bike (he he) with no airbag, except for side impacts. I never thought it had a chance of working either, until I saw it. It seems to work well enough that they were designing it into future models, anyway.

Just wear the grizzly-proof suit from earlier patent......

Air Bag on a motorcycle, heck it's just another way of saying ejector seat. This safety design ranks right up there with the "Iron Maiden Motorcycle Helmet". Good Grief.
